NHS
NHS installed Enlighted and achieved dramatic lighting energy savings, advanced lighting control, and building IoT capabilities.
Customer Profile
Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) manages five public healthcare facilities located in Manchester, England. It employs about 5,000 staff with 750 inpatient beds and approximately 300,000 outpatients a year.
Challenge
WWL’s operation-wide Carbon Management Implementation Plan for energy optimization was initiated at the Thomas Linacre Centre, an outpatient facility. The goal was to reduce energy use by at least 80 percent, deliver better custom lighting control, and unlock the power of the IoT for healthcare facilities.
Solution
WWL replaced the facility’s 904 fluorescent lighting fixtures with new LED luminaires equipped with Enlighted smart sensors. Doing so improved lighting quality, and increased lighting control across the site. The installation also created an Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure that supported detailed space utilization analysis, and real-time location services (RTLS) for asset tracking, people badging, and wayfinding applications.

Results
The installation resulted in a predicted 80 percent lower energy spend, saving £38,000 ($49,153 USD) per year, and resulting in ROI in four years—all before considering the significant long-term benefits of the IoT installation.
The brightest way to operate, orchestrate and optimize everyday spaces.
